They have picked an alternative in the NEPA process and this is good news!

The National Park Service (NPS) is seeking public comments on proposed safety and maintenance improvements along the Mount Vernon Trail and the southern section of the George Washington Memorial Parkway. The road and trail improvements being considered would enhance the visitor experience for drivers, pedestrians, and cyclists.
